Motorola V180 Cell Phone Reviews
Gee Can someone tell me how to play videos on this phonee and how to fix mssgs,i have 6 mssg inbox. What to do?
David I've had the V180 for 45 days. I don't recall ever dropping it and actually have rarely used it because Cingular has poor reception just outside Berkeley, CA.
This week the embedded mic apparently died. I can hear the person on the other end fine but they hear nothing from me. Voice calling no longer works and leaving a message for myself turns into a hangup. Though the manager where I bought it agrees the phone is bad, he won't replace it since its over 30 days old. I have to MAIL it to Cingular and wait who knows how long for a replacement.
I'm no longer happy with the phone and am very disappointed with the service.
thadogg for all who have problems connecting the phone to a PC !!!
download motorola mobile phone tools and the v180 usb driver from the net. i found them free !!! instal both of them and.. TADA it works! now you can transfer pictures, mp3's, even java games... the only inconvinience is the small 2 mb memory :((...
roman this cell phone its the worst phone ever made, the flex is the worst, i work at a cell store and about the 85% of the problems came with this cell phoneand the problem came with the flex.
Mark Does anyone know how to put pictures/ringtones on this phone from a computer?? I have a usb cable that fits, (amazing!) but i'm a bit unclear as how to send the files to the phone. I am trying midi files, I dont know if they will work on the phone. Help would be greatly appreciated. Like, really REALLY appreciated.
Alan I have had my V180 since about Christmas, no probs at all. Improved the signal strength with a cheapie telescopic antenna off Ebay.
Busted the inside screen (they don't bounce very well) but got a replacement on Ebay from China for about $20, it was a snap to install!
My son-in-law's Cingular phone (a V220) messed up (my V180 is an ATT model), I found a small freeware program (224K) on the internet that flashed my phone and allows his Cingular SIM to work in my phone (as well as my ATT original SIM) .. really neat phone!
I would like to get another some day (if I find a good deal on Ebay). If you want to do the same, my suggestion is to get one built for Cingular or ATT (quad band), the TMobile version is apparantly only a tribander (missing the 850 band) .. 850 is what is used in my area of the country.
Thanks, Alan
aryz Just switched over to the family plan and upgraded my cell phone from T62 sony to V180 Motorola (actually I wanted the other motorola special but appears cingular changes the specials from day to day) so had to settle for the v180. From the first time using it have not had reception, sound has been like underwater, it goes in and out, and places where my Sony didnt work the motorola works. Weird, at any rate not happy with this cell, and trading it in.
Ron I bought 3 of these phones, one for my daughter, my wife and myself. The reception is so bad my daughter has already dumped hers in the trash and bought a new phone. My reception is terrible even with the telescopic ebay antenna and "booster" installed. People I call say the phone is very noisey and not clear.
I will soon put my phone with my daughters. This is the last Moto phone I will ever own.
Troy I love it it freezes alot and the screen goes black 4 around 30 seconds i have 9 downloads and its a cool phone
mike-e to the solution of keypads not lighting up!!
On select handset models, the keypad back-light operation is light sensitive. There is a light sensor located underneath the bumper next to the key that acts as a switch to turn the keypad lights on. When in an area of adequate light, the keypad will not illuminate to help conserve battery power. When in an area of low light, the sensors will allow for the keypad to illuminate within a few moments of the flip being opened or a key being pressed. This is a part of the phone's design, and cannot be disabled. This function can be demonstrated by placing your hand over the bumper, *, 7, 4, and 1 keys, then pressing any uncovered button several times. This should cause the keypad lights to illuminate regardless of the amount of ambient light.
