HP iPAQ hw6515 Cell Phone Reviews

<unknown> hey guys i am lookin forward of buy this fone can anybody tell me if this fone has WI-FI???????????????????????????????????

<unknown> i would like to know how long does the battery last, and if its a good phone, i would like to buy one.

jan90110 I've bought it 4 month ago and have it brought back to the shop four times, the HP is resetting it's self frequently, today two times and after replacing the motherboard, the microphone was out of order, also after a repair (poor service). Does anyone has this problems, I like the device because of its complete, but the technics are poor.

Lydia does it have radio?

Telly Hi Everyone,

I'm responding to the post I left on January 21, 2006. I had mentioned that I would be keeping my Palm Treo 650 and getting rid of my iPAQ hw6515. The reasoning behind that was that I felt the iPAQ hw6515, was simply too big.

Since then I came to realize that the phone itself is not big. It's the case I had the phone in that made it feel big. The iPAQ hw6515, is a much better phone than the Treo 650. The iPAQ hw6515 is the best mobile device I have owned to date. You really cannot ask for more.

Telly L. Hi Everyone,

I've been using a HP iPAQ hw6515 for about two weeks now. It's a really great device.

The only negative I find is the size. When you use it as a phone, it feels like you're putting a brick against your ear. It's simply too big. I'm pretty much decided to stick with the Palm Treo 650 I also have.

Let me know if you agree that the unit simply does not feel like a phone. Thanks.

-Telly L.

Nightmare Just got this two days ago. WHAT A NIGHTMARE!
I spent two hours with my provider configuring the MMS and GPRS settings, and it was like each time you created a new setting, the system resets itself and goes back to another setting. Anyway, after 2 hours, only the MMS was working.
Tried to configure the email and GPRS the next day, GPRS keeps reverting to some other setting that I didn't put in, and even after multiple hard resets and hours with mobile provider customer support, (couldn't remove the wrong settings) the setting would still be there.
Called HP customer service, got some heavy overseas accent who didn't know what was the problem, kept saying "You input the right numbers, the phone will work!", and said that my email login and pswd was dependant on my mobile provider and not the email server. They were very happy to send me away with those answers.
Graphics was also slow, and its kinda funny seeing how remnants of the phone menu would appear on the "today" menu. Sound quality was ok though, but phone was really heavy, (tried using it with bluetooth) coupled with a classless plastic stylus and plastic cover.
Enough was enough, returned the device today.

Alertaz There was a question about diffrent sound for messages. Yes it is posible to set other sound. All you need is to place .wav (only this type of file i tried) file into main windows dir and that file will be in list of messages/notifications.

CW I just got this phone about a month ago, and I am just getting used to it. I can say it's a little quirky to get setup initally, but once it's done, you can't beat the features.
PROS:
-Using TOMTOM Navigation software with the GPS feature is AWESOME. Throw away that MS pocket streets. I was looking at the Magellan Roadmate and Garmin GPS's that sell for over $800 each, so this alone can make the price of the HW6515 a steal. I have used many GPS's and this TOMTOM software on here is dead-on accurate with perfect voice prompts. It even has accurate traffic updates & wrecks if you enable it.
-MS Voice Software works well for voice dialing and announcing caller id's. This is nice since I can not figure out how to assign a particular ringtone to an individual caller.
-It works great with a 2 GIG Mini-SD card for watching MP4 movies (with the right player) as well as storing all of your MP3 songs.
- Add an external WIFI Card for the extra SD slot and you'll be surfing high speed with everyone else.
CONS:
-It is hard to use just as a "phone". You can not hold down a number key for one touch speeed dial which I miss.
-Sometimes when using the GPS and/or watching a movie, you simply can't answer a call. It just kinda "locks up" Typical Windows.
- The battery power is dismal. As posted before using the PDA all day checking your email and such with the backlight on, you can barely get 8 hours work of power. Listening to MP3's - Forget about it. I find myself charging it every chance I get. I just ordered a new high capacity battery, so I hope it will help.
-Most all apps, games, themes are for the bigger PDA screens so they do not work well on the smaller screen on HW6515.
- So far there is no IR Remote control software that works with the hw6515 that I have found to work with your TV and such.

Hope that helps some of you. I wouldn't trade it for all it does, I can put up with the quirks.

JEN can i change the covers on the phone? mine is scratched badly
